1st XV vs Solihull

47 - 17

No of Tries 7

Denstone continued their strong start to the season running in 7 tries to Solihull’s 3, to run out clear winners on Adamson 1.

The backline were on excellent form amassing 5 of the 7 tries scored on the day. In the first half Will Midwinter and Will Derry finished off well worked first phase attacks from Denstone line out ball. Dan Makepeace was the fortunate recipient of an overthrown Solihull line out, from which he crashed over next to the posts swatting off numerous Solihull defenders. 21-0 at the break after some excellent work off the tee from Harry Read.

The Forwards opened the scoring in the second half through a brilliantly executed driving line out. Lewis Eaton then profited from stable scrum ball to dot down in the right hand corner. The backs were at it again with Will Derry slicing the Solihull defence like a knife through butter before rounding the fullback to go untouched under the posts. Danny Meredith got the final score when the ball was shifted wide, showing everyone he is a more than suitable replacement for last year’s Speedy Gonzalez, Will Town.

Solihull fought hard and scored 3 tries one of which was a perfectly timed intercept. There was some poor tackling from Denstone late in the piece providing them with much to work on leading into the toughest challenge of them all, Sedbergh, away!
