U17s Hockey vs Barton Hockey Club 1st XI

3 - 2

Goals scored by Rebecca Frost, Eden Collier and Tara Wylie.

Player of the match went to Tara Wylie.

A great start for the new and reformed U17 Denstone team against Barton Ladies team today. Lead by their team captain Tara Wylie, new positions, formations and tactics were set from the start. Denstone dominated the first quarter, gaining most of the possession and ensuring Barton had few shots on goal. Georgina Startin and Eden Collier both ran exceptionally well in both defence and attack, applying pressure to the opposition. At the end of the first half, Denstone were 1-0 up after a fantastic goal by Eden Collier.

The second half displayed pace and energy from both teams. Confidence had grown and they were both determined to win. It wasn't long before Barton had scored to level once again and finally took the lead following their 2nd goal 15 minutes in.

Denstone fought back and became more comfortable on the ball. Passing was more accurate and some excellent balls along the right-wing including Libby Stephens and Charlotte Derry as forward, into the circle. It wasn't long before we levelled once again, with a deflection from Rebecca Frost.

Our final goal was scored by Tara Wylie, in a direct hit on goal of a short corner.

A well-deserved win for your first game. Continue to build confidence and raise your own bar in training to become a better version of yourself.
